Mobile as remote control

“Ah yes, phones have become so much more than just a bar of plastic that you talk into. NTT-Neomeit announced an inexpensive service that lets you control home devices with cellphones. The service is called “U-Consento†and it’s scheduled for availability this September (in Japan at least). They plan to rent out the home remote control system starting at around 500 yen ($4 USD) a month.
According to Pink Tentacle, the “service is designed to be compatible with a wide range of existing home appliances, so users do not need to purchase new devices or perform extensive home rewiring.†Imagine being able to adjust temperature, control audio and television, while monitoring the status of each.”
thanks (again!) to Ministry of Tech
this post connects with your previous comment on P2P site about a demo connecting flickr througha bluetooth enabled mobile phone and it use to “play” flickr images from my flickr account to my Televisoin( or perhaps my phone display or my laptop display)
I’d like to know more about the concept of roomware and how it could be applied to integrate bluetooth enabled devices wirelessly in a corporate meeting room setting.
Is this something you are interested in pursuing?
Also, if you are familiar with Apple TV technology which is a bluetooth enable TiVo-like device for storing and playing back iTunes playlist imagery on an HDTV set. I have just received a gift of the AppleTV, have a flickr account and a bluetooth enabled laptop and mobile phone. I would enjoy experimenting with your demo integrating these devices.
Hi Dave, check your mail for a reply.
